Jim is a cousin of Jack Box who was serving time in county jail for an unspecified crime. In a conversation with Jack, he said he missed shower curtains, complained about the food, and said he'd kill for some Jack in the Box food. In one version of the commercial, Jack says he'll put him in touch with a good lawyer.
Jim apparently managed to get out of jail as he attended a Box family reunion a few years later.
