Jack in the Box Wiki

This is a "style guide" for Jack in the Box Wiki, a set of guidelines to keep in mind while editing the wiki, as well as some tips and tricks. Happy editing!

General[]

• Treat the subject matter seriously.
• The subject of the article should be in bold in the first sentence.
• Commercial titles are italicized. There's no real basis for this other than it looks nice.
• When adding an article, please add at least one category (the main categories can be found here). Please don't add superfluous categories, like "2003 commercials where Jack Jr. wears a red hat."
• Please don't add empty sections or say "Coming soon!"

Infoboxes[]

Please note the first sentence of an article and an infobox have to be on the same line, otherwise they might display misaligned.

Article structure[]

• Introduction - The first line should be a brief, factual description, i.e. "Exploding Clown is a 1980 Jack in the Box commercial advertising the Chicken Supreme." If there is a title from an official source, please use that title and cite the source. Official sources include Jack in the Box's YouTube page, people who worked on the commercial, news articles, awards lists, commercial databases, etc. If an official title cannot be found, use a simple placeholder title (ideally something that succinctly describes the commercial in as few words as possible). Please consult List of notable commercials so we can try to be consistent.
• Synopsis - A description of the commercial's narrative. Try to use neutral language and don't spoil jokes. A video of the commercial should be embedded.
• Alternate version(s) - If there's an alternate version of the commercial (i.e. an extended version, or an updated version advertising a different product) with substantial changes, note it here.
• Notes - Any trivia, observations, or easter eggs about the commercial. Any real-world production stuff should be saved for the "Behind the scenes" section.
• Gallery - Images from the commercial. Behind-the-scenes photos from its production can also be included. The section works as sort of a "buffer" between fiction and non-fiction.
• Behind the scenes/Production - Any general information about the production of the commercial should be posted here.
• Cast - Please cite a source for actors that are not regulars. Don't include if the only known cast members are Rick Sittig/Jack Tate.
• Crew - This is very rare, but if most of the crew is known, include it. Don't include if the only known crew member is the director.
• Reception - If the commercial was notable or controversial in some fashion, try to include some quotes, preferably from big publications. Industry awards could also be listed here.

• Introduction - A brief description of the character.
• Biography - A more detailed description of the character, if there's enough to warrant multiple paragraphs.
• Appearances - List of commercials or other Jack in the Box-related works they've appeared in. Do not use for Jack Box.
• Gallery - Images of the character, ideally in chronological order.
• Behind the scenes - Mention the actor who portrays them, if that information is known.

• Introduction
• Ad copy - Jack in the Box's description of the item, from their website. Put it in between
and
.
• Background - Historical/background information about the food in general, if it's a food that exists outside of Jack in the Box, like a taco.
• Variations/variants - List of variations of the item, i.e. Jumbo Jack with Cheese.
• Advertising - If the item was part of a notable advertising campaign, note it here.
• Gallery
• Reception - Reviews of the item. Ideally should feature a range of opinions.

• References[]

• If the article uses footnotes, create a References section at the bottom of the article and type {{reflist}}.
• If the majority of an article's text is from Wikipedia, use Template:Wikipedia at the top of the article. If an article uses Wikipedia content but there's a substantial amount of new material added (say, more than half the article), include it as the first thing in the References section.
