Hamburgermeister was a member of the Jack in the Box Bunch.
Biography[]
Hamburgermeister is depicted as a short elderly German man with a large, bulbous nose, clad in lederhosen. He has been shown working at at a Jack in the Box restaurant, presumably cooking up some of his prize-winning hamburgers.
He was known for making bad jokes, along with making up folksy sayings such as "a hamburger a day keeps the hunger away" followed by his recurring catchphrase, "That's an old saying I just made up!" He can also be very clumsy. In How Pain Helps Us, he drops a bowling ball on his feet twice.
During a baseball game, he served as an umpire. While playing in a playground, he grew tired pushing The Shakes on a merry-go-round.
Notes[]
- In one commercial, Hamburgermeister introduces himself as "the Hamburgermeister," suggesting it is not his actual name.
- There is some inconsistency regarding the character's name: "Der Hamburger Meister," "Hamburger Meister" (two words), and "Hamburgermeister" (one word) have all been shown in official sources.
- His name is play on the word "burgermeister," a Germanic term referring to the chief magistrate or executive of a city or town.[1]
