Frings

Frings were a combination of onion rings and french fries served in the same bag or carton.[1] They were introduced in 1979 and discontinued shortly thereafter in the early 1980s.[2]

Jack in the Box says they've "gone the way of mood rings and shag carpeting,"[3] making a reintroduction unlikely. While they are generally considered a flop,[4] they still appear to hold some cult appeal.

Other restaurants serve "Frings," and some have trademarked the term.[5] Jack in the Box rival Burger King allegedly has an item called "King's Frings."[6]

In popular culture[]

  • It is possible the Breaking Bad character Gus Fring was named after Frings.
